First, Second, and Third Class
Unlike today, classes aboard a cruise ship were very important. The different classes were not allowed to mix with eachother. The different classes rooms were on different levels of the ship. First class traveling was more safe than third class. The different classes were also on the ship for different reasons and had different standards. If you read ahead you will notice the very clear differences of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd class.
First Class:
- Mainly traveling on vacation or for pleasure.
- Most third class passengers were famous celebrities, rich millionaires, or both.
Second Class:
- Was only different from first class because of a few small things. The only major difference between first and second class was that first class had the title of "first class". Back then, everyone thought you were better if you had more money and spent it willy-nilly on things like going on cruises.
- Was mostly made up of tourists.
Third Class:
- Also known as "steerage".
- Most third class passengers were immigrants leaving Europe to travel to America for a better life.
